About Melissa Jones…

Hey there!

Here’s a little information about me. I live in Pinehurst, NC and have been married to Kevin since 1994. We are both originally from NC and met at NC State (Go Pack!) where I received my BA in History with a minor in Religious Studies. We have 2 grown children who spent their childhood in Bluffton, SC where we lived for 12 years before we moved back to NC in 2012. It was hard to leave the Lowcountry but it allowed me to attend Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary’s Charlotte campus where I received an MA in Christian Studies. While at seminary, I discovered the beautiful ministry of spiritual direction and trained to become a spiritual director through the Anglican Diocese of New England. Additionally, I am trained to take people through the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises.

I have worked in non-profit, para-church and church ministry in professional, pastoral, and volunteer capacities for 20 years. In 2020, I felt God lead me to focus on leading retreats, spiritual formation groups and traditional spiritual direction. Two of my favorite materials to guide people through are My Life Expedition and The Spiritual Exercises in daily life. I am available to meet with individuals and groups in person or via zoom.

I am happy to facilitate a retreat or morning away for your staff, Bible study group, or a group of friends that you bring together. Some of my favorite topics include spiritual disciplines, silence and solitude for beginners, discernment, imaginative contemplation, the use of both story and imagery in prayer and Holy Spirit led reflection. I have plenty of experience speaking at Christian women’s conferences as well. Fees are based on travel expenses and length of event.

Two of my long term goals are to open a small prayer retreat center and to organize groups to go on pilgrimages.

I am a member of the Evangelical Spiritual Directors Association.
